Since 2019, I’ve delved into ‘home’ as a concept, using mine and other immigrants’ stories as a starting point for my research.
Although far away from my home of South Korea, an all American country music song like John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” resonates with me. The music is a reminder of the blue collar background I come from and the long hours I put into horeca work here in the Netherlands.
Fascinated by country music’s historical roots I’m working on my own kind of country music. Using it as a tool to explore how it preserves identities and memories.
