"Das Jahr der Eidechse"" (The Year of the Lizard) brings together analogue photographs made in moments when I sensed something I could not quite name or grasp. I use photography to give such impressions a visual form. A reflection, a gesture, a patch of light or an overlooked object can become a vehicle for this, remaining anchored in reality while suggesting something beyond its immediate appearance.
Like the lizard that appears and vanishes again, the photographs inhabit a fragile space between what is seen and what is sensed. The lizard sheds its tail and moves on; something remains after the moment has passed.
The photographs in ""Das Jahr der Eidechse"" were made over several years without a concept in mind. I photographed intuitively, drawn to moments when something elusive seemed to reveal itself. The book was shortlisted for the Econtros da Imagem Photobook Award in 2020.
Each book includes a fine art print of 10,5 x 10,5 cm image on 13 x 19 cm paper.
