Not Shameless - Elizabeth Alderliesten
Product information "Not Shameless - Elizabeth Alderliesten"
NOT SHAMELESS is a raw, poetic exploration of identity, vulnerability, and transformation. It reflects on the power of vulnerability - not as weakness, but as an opening. A way to meet the world as we truly are.
This project grew slowly, quietly, over the course of several years. It began as a series of images, soft, yet strong, that came together in a stop-motion piece. And now it has become a book.
Tactile, intimate, and layered, the book presents all 18 frames from the stop-motion, each originally printed as an archival pigment print and hand-finished with soft pastels. A tangible expression of presence, fragility, and inner change. The rhythm of the book follows that of the film: quiet, reflective, and powerful in its presence. Each copy is bound with a bold, oversized tan spiral coil, raw and unpolished by design, reflecting the work’s openness and physicality. It’s made to be touched, held, and revisited.

Vulnerability stands close to protection. What once functioned as a shield begins to fall away, until only a bare, radical presence remains. Not shameless, but a state in which truth and light enter through the fragile openings of the self. Skin becomes a threshold with the world: thin, porous, yet quietly resilient.
The gaze turns inward, towards fear, hope, and the understanding that certainty is always temporary. In this exposure, a meeting with the self becomes possible. The body is no longer separate from nature, but part of its continual breathing and shifting. Every fiber holds a longing for connection: with the earth, with the unseen, with something that moves beyond the self.
In the tension between separation and belonging, a new form of existence begins to appear.
Seeking the essence,
Light in darkness reveals truth,
True self, so pristine.
